About Internetdagarna

Internetdagarna is the primary Internet-related event in Sweden. It combines a two-day conference with live testing of brand new technologies and an exhibition floor, attracting 500 or more visitors each year.

This year’s conference takes place at the Folkets Hus in Stockholm (www.stoccc.se) on October 21 – 22. Two famous Internet veterans will keynote the conference, Vint Cerf of Google and routing expert Geoff Huston of Apnic in Australia. The third keynote speaker is Åsa Torstensson, secretary for infrastructure and IT within the Swedish government. All in all the conference will feature close to 100 national and international speakers in more than 30 sessions, organized in five parallel tracks:

  1. IP and networking
  2. Security
  3. Public Internet policy
  4. Web / Mobile web
  5. Domain names

The central theme for Internetdagarna 2008 is the transition to IP version 6. We dedicate a full day on the IP and networking track to various aspects of IPv6, from a basic tutorial to experiences from those who have taken the leap.

We are also proud to announce that we have revived an old tradition: Internetdagarna 2008 will again feature live testing of networking equipment and tools. We will test a selection of products in three important categories:

  • IPv6 handling in firewalls
  • IP address and DNSSEC key management
  • Securing e-mail

Internetdagarna have been held yearly since 2000. Its purpose is to provide an arena where technologists and public sector can meet to discuss Internet-related issues. Visitors can be divided into three categories: technical experts from the ISP and telecoms sector, national and local policymakers from the public sector and corporate IT staff.

The conference is a not-for-profit event backed by .SE, the Swedish domain name registry (see www.iis.se), and a number of co-sponsors such as Internet Society (Swedish chapter), Dataföreningen, the National Post and Telecom Agency, the Swedish Urban Network Association, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, the Swedish Network Operators’ Forum and many others.
