Jan Flodin is a member of the Internet Society, where he served at the board of the Internet Society Sweden Chapter between 2007 and 2012. In 2013, he returned to the board as interim Chairman until April 2014. He is currently a policy adviser to the .SE Registry (the Internet Infrastructure Foundation), and ISOC-SE spokesperson for ISOC Open Internetworking.

Jan Flodin is an active supporter of the preservation of the open end-to-end model of the Internet as a constant enabler for permission-free innovation, open usage of the Internet and Free Speech. He is the ISOC-SE spokesperson for ISOC Open Internetworking, a more broader concept than just ”net neutrality”. Over the years, he has organised and participated in conference sessions, written blog postings and ISOC-SE responses to consultations from the Swedish Government and EU bodies.
